An ongoing exploration of aluminum extrusion furniture, bringing a highly technical material, commonly used for workstations, machinery safety guards, conveyor systems and 3D printer frames, into homes.

This is not a new invention by any means. Many designers have utilized aluminum extrusions to build furniture, and technical spaces such as labs and manufacturing facilities use these systems too. However, they usually rely on bulky L-brackets and visible screws, which in my eyes break the aesthetics. Instead, I use hidden joints: the screw head sits inside the slot of one profile and screws into the threaded center of the profile meeting it at 90 degrees, leaving clean, uninterrupted junctions.

The designs use standard 20×20 or 30×30 mm profiles, a standard of their own, so they don't depend on any specific manufacturer. The vision is to make it open source if proven to work, hence the name opentable.
